Funding Facts – QLD

Understanding funding options for your qualification can be challenging, so we’re launching a series called ‘Funding Facts’ to clarify the various funding opportunities available in each state. Kicking things off, we’ll start with Queensland!

A government initiative designed to support apprenticeships and traineeships, and employers to cover the cost of training and aims to enhance the quality and accessibility of vocational education in Priority Qualifications including School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships for both New and Existing Workers. To be eligible, participants must be an apprentice or trainee under a training contract in QLD. Fees are applicable

If you’re under 25, you may be eligible to undertake a high priority qualification fully funded. To be eligible for this funding, individuals must be aged between 15 and 24 years inclusive. This funding is only available in selected qualifications designated by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training. Participants must be an apprentice or trainee under a training contract in QLD.

Assists eligible individuals in obtaining their first post-school Certificate III qualification. To be eligible, individuals must be QLD resident, Australian or NZ citizen, or have appropriate residency status or visa. They must be 15 years or older, not currently in school (with the exception of VETiS students), and must not already hold or be enrolled in a Certificate III or higher-level qualification (excluding qualifications completed in school). This funding is only available in qualifications listed on the Priority Skills List. Participants can only access this funding once. Fees are applicable.

Provides subsidies for advanced training in priority areas to help individuals gain specialised skills for better job opportunities. To be eligible, participants must be QLD residents aged 15 years or older, an Australian or NZ citizen, permanent resident, or hold a special category visa, and not hold or be enrolled in a Certificate IV or higher-level qualification (excluding pre-requisite qualifications that were previously completed under User Choice or Fee for Service arrangements). This funding is only available in qualifications listed on the Priority Skills List. Participants can only access this funding once.  Fees are applicable.

Provides targeted training and support to help job seekers, underemployed individuals, and disadvantaged groups gain the skills and confidence needed for meaningful employment. To be eligible, participants must be QLD residents aged 15 years or older, an Australian or NZ citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant) or hold the necessary visa category. Projects are designed by Community Based not-for-profit Organisations and are run conjointly with fully funded Registered Training Organisations. There is no cost to participants in these programs.
