Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) enables students to gain a nationally recognised qualification while at school. Students learn skills and knowledge required for specific industries and form the bridge between high school and future endeavours. Our customised program caters to a variety of career aspirations and offer pathways to both university and industry.
Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement
Certificate III in Laboratory Skills (Upgrade)
Our customisable program is designed to meet the diverse career aspirations of students, providing clear pathways to both higher education and industry opportunities. The program seamlessly integrates into Year 10, 11, or 12 cohorts, offering a comprehensive blend of classroom instruction, practical hands-on training, and flexible online theory modules.
Students have the opportunity to begin their journey with a Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement, which includes 8 units of study. For those looking to further their expertise, an optional advancement to a Certificate III in Laboratory Skills is available, requiring the completion of an additional 5 units.
Successful completion of our qualifications not only equips students with valuable skills but also provides an ATAR equivalent of 68, enhancing their prospects for further education and employment.
This course will teach students the skills and knowledge required to perform a range of sampling and measurement activities as part of laboratory, production or field operations in the construction, manufacturing, food processing, resources and environmental industry sectors.
As a result of completing Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement and Certificate III in Laboratory skills, participants will know how to:
We are proud to deliver Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement and Certificate III in Laboratory Skills across QLD high schools. We continue to grow our program and plan to expand Australia wide.
Here are the schools we are currently deliver to:
We are proud to offer an additional experience for students through our partnership with Sea World. The “What’s In The Water?” program guides senior students in Chemistry, Marine Science, and Aquatic Practices to investigate the physical and chemical factors that sustain healthy ocean ecosystems. Through hands-on water testing, students compare water quality in a controlled aquarium and a natural environment.
Students are encouraged to examine how human activities, especially climate change, affect marine life by altering chemical processes in natural systems. Students will explore the critical role of water as a key abiotic factor, study the impacts of ocean acidification, and learn how monitoring techniques can promote marine sustainability. “What’s in the Water?” integrates relevant chemical, oceanographic, and environmental concepts from the units of MSL20122 Certificate II in Sampling and Measurement.
The “Day in the Life of a Scientist” program at QIMR Berghofer is designed for Year 10, 11, and 12 students who are considering a career in science. This program provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a working laboratory while interacting with scientists involved in cutting-edge medical research. During the program, students will engage in a variety of enriching activities. They will participate in a hands-on experimental activity in a state-of-the-art education laboratory. Additionally, students have the option to hear from researchers who are at the forefront of scientific discovery and to tour the Institute’s world-class medical research facilities.
The program offers four half-day experimental activities. Students can choose from the following options: Cell Biology with a focus on blood microscopy, Disease studies emphasising antimicrobial drug discovery, Immunology with a concentration on diagnosing Ross River virus, and Genetics exploring DNA and inheritance.
Approximately 8 months in total, but customisable to fit timeframes.
Face-To-Face Days: 2 days for Certificate II, an additional 1 day for Certificate III.
Theory Components: Students are guided through the modules using our self-paced online learning resources.
VETiS funded for eligible students. If students are deemed ineligible, a Fee For Service arrangement of $1900 is available.
